The start of our journey
Our passion for cast iron cookware runs deep.
We’ve admired some products on the market - but time and again, we found problems. Sometimes it was the quality. Other times, the price just didn’t make sense.
This inspired us to begin our journey: to create cast iron cookware that combines uncompromising quality with accessibility, offering exceptional value without sacrificing craftsmanship.
Since our family has been in cast iron production for generations, we decided to take on the challenge.
Who we are
We’re proud to continue a legacy rooted deep in history. For centuries, our region was renowned as the iron heart of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, celebrated for its unparalleled craftsmanship and contributions to metallurgy. Even sections of the iconic Chain Bridge in Budapest were cast in Count Andrássy's foundry near Rožňava in Drnava.
Today, we carry forward that tradition at the historic Concordia foundry, originally established in 1833, where our family has worked across generations to bring quality iron castings to market.
The founder of eisenherz, also a co-owner of the foundry, carries a proud family lineage with members who have dedicated their lives to the industry, keeping our passion for cast iron alive and thriving.
Inspired by our long history, we wanted to bring cast iron back to the heart of cooking. The idea to manufacture cookware was born around 2015, when we recognized a need for affordable, high-quality cast iron cookware as an alternative to the often highly overpriced or lower-quality options on the market. This vision set us on a challenging yet rewarding journey to offer cookware that combines the best of old-world craftsmanship with modern standards.
The name of our company eisenherz derives from our heritage - the German word simply means iron heart.
Our cookware is designed with the hands and hearts of craftspeople who take pride in every step, from the initial pour to the final polish. Using traditional hand-finishing methods and integrating modern techniques, we ensure every piece meets our rigorous standards for quality, durability, and beauty. Over the past decade, we’ve used every method at our disposal to design and produce the highest quality cast iron cookware - at prices that make sense.
We began by testing old pieces in our own foundry - many of which we discovered in our grandmothers’ kitchens, made right here over the centuries.
From there, we reimagined them using traditional techniques like wood carving, combined with modern tools like 3D modeling and printing.
The result? Cookware we believe in—built on heritage, refined by craftsmanship, and made to last.
